What are dental implants?
Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They act as artificial tooth roots, made of surgically pure biocompatible titanium, that integrate naturally with the jawbone to provide a strong, stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures. Implant restorations look, feel, and function like natural teeth—restoring confidence, comfort, and long-term oral health.
Why Choose Implant Dentistry?
- Permanent and secure – fused to the bone for unmatched stability
- Protect bone health – reduces bone loss that occurs after tooth loss
- Preserve natural teeth – no need to alter neighboring teeth
- Restore full function – eat, speak, and smile with confidence
The Implant Process
Your treatment is tailored to your unique needs and typically completed in several steps:
- Consultation & Planning – We evaluate your bone health and anatomy, review medical history, and plan your customized implant placement.
- Implant Placement – Under local anesthesia (and optional sedation for comfort), a small titanium post is gently inserted into the jawbone. Many times the implant can be placed at the same time as tooth removal.
- Healing & Integration – Over the next few months, the implant fuses with the bone (a process called osseointegration) to create a stable foundation.
- Abutment & Restoration – Once healed, a small connector (abutment) is attached, and your dentist places the final crown, bridge, or denture.
Comfort & Healing
Implant surgery is performed with great precision and local anesthesia, often with nitrous oxide or IV sedation if desired. Most patients report minimal discomfort and return to normal activities quickly. Healing times vary depending on bone quality, number of implants, and individual health.
If additional support is needed, bone or soft tissue grafting may be recommended to create the ideal foundation for your implant.
How Many Implants Do You Need?
In most cases, one implant replaces one missing tooth. However, multiple implants can support bridges or full-arch restorations when several teeth are missing.
Dental implants are a lasting investment in your oral health—restoring strength, function, and confidence for decades to come.
